So finally got round to breaking in my lino cutting tools and lino block this weekend. I bought the cutters and lino from ebay.co.uk but have since found Fred Aldous website which has everything you need for much cheaper.
First print off the text you want to use on the stamp and then, using tracing paper, outline the text in heavy pencil. Align the tracing paper on your lino block and gently rub over the text with your fingers. The pencil trace transfers straight onto the lino ready for carving. I used a biro and retraced the text just to make it stand out even more.
Using both normal scalpels and the lino cutters (see first picture) I gently cut around the text. Its not perfect and I am not entirely sure where I am going to utilize it, but it was still fun to do! Maybe a DIY Valentines or Mothers Day card?
